Doors Open Jamestown 2008 was a Huge Success! |
|
The doors of some of the Jamestown museums and attractions were opened last Saturday, January 19th, and over 2,200 local residents and area visitors took advantage of the free admission. The Jamestown Audubon Nature Center, The Fenton History Center, The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center Museum and Playhouse, The Reg Lenna Civic Center, The Robert H. Jackson Center and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute were all open for free for the day.
The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce and each of the attractions hosted the event. Each attraction held a drawing for a free item from their gift shop or tickets to an upcoming event. The day was filled with wonderful exhibits, architecture, local history and fun for all ages. “I can’t tell you have many times I heard a visitor remark about how this event prompted them to finally come visit our museum, and the other attractions as well” said Joni Blackman, Director of the Fenton History Center. |
